If you’re like most people, you probably use your smartphone to capture memories and share them with friends. But what if you want to create a GIF from something that happened on your phone? You can do it with a little help from your Samsung Galaxy phone. To make a GIF from anything on your phone, first open the Camera app and select the video or photo you want to turn into a GIF. Next, tap the three lines in the bottom left corner of the screen and select “GIFs.” (If you don’t see these options, tap “Camera” at the top of the screen and then select “GIFs.”) Now, choose one of the options below to start creating your GIF: -Select an animation type: This will let you choose between several different types of animations, including looping ones that will keep playing until you stop it or ones that will play once and then disappear. -Select a frame: This lets you pick which frame in your video or photo will be used as the starting point for your GIF. (You can also use this option to change how long each frame lasts.) -Select a size: This lets you choose how big your final GIF will be. (You can also adjust this option after selecting a frame.) ..

Many Samsung smartphones have a feature called “Smart Select.” You can use this to select specific parts of the screen, but it also includes a GIF tool. Smart Select used to be exclusive to Galaxy Note devices, but now it’s available for many more.

Smart Select is only accessible from Samsung’s “Edge Panels” feature, so you’ll need to enable that first. Swipe down once from the top of your Samsung Galaxy device’s screen, and then tap the gear icon.

Next, go to the “Display” section.

Toggle the switch on for “Edge Panels,” and then select it.

An animation will show how to access the Edge Panels. Go to “Panels.”

There are several panels to choose from here. Make sure that the “Smart Select” panel is selected.

With that out of the way, find something that you’d like to turn into a GIF and open the Edge Panel by sliding out from the translucent tab on the edge of the display.

You might have to swipe left or right to get to the Smart Select panel. From it, you’ll see an “Animation” option, which is what you want.

If you’re using YouTube as the GIF source, Smart Select will automatically highlight the video. You can also manually drag the corners to select whatever you want.

Before you start recording, tap the quality dropdown and select “High Quality” or “Standard Quality.”

Now, you can tap the “Record” button to start capturing the animated GIF. Tap the “Done” button to finish recording the GIF.

You’ll now have the option to draw on the GIF, share it directly, or save it to your local storage. Here’s the GIF that I made.

This is a really nifty tool that has tons of uses. Making a quick GIF from a YouTube video is just one example of what you can do! If you’re not using your phone, there are other methods for GIF creation out there.
