If you’re a Safari user and want to change the location of Safari’s download folder on your Mac, here are some tips:

  1. Open Safari and click on the three lines in the top left corner of the window. This will show you a list of options.
  2. The first option is " Preferences “. Click on it and then select " Downloads “.
  3. The next option is " Downloads Sources “. Click on it and then select " Downloads from my computer “. If you don’t have a computer at home, you can also choose " downloads from my computer or any other location”.
  4. The last option is " Downloads Folder “. Click on it and then select " Change Folder “.

By default, when you download something using Safari, it gets saved in your Mac’s main Downloads folder. If you’d rather save your files somewhere else, you can change the default save folder. Here’s how to do it.

With Safari open, click the “Safari” menu and then click “Preferences.”

On the General tab of the preferences window, click the “File download location” drop-down menu and then click “Other.”

Browse to–or create– a new folder and then click “Select.”

And that’s it. It’s a super simple change to make, but if you don’t know the option is there in the first place, you might not even think to look for it.
