Netflix has been in the business of streaming movies and TV shows for years now, and they’ve built up a sizable library of content. However, one thing that Netflix hasn’t done as much of is advertising their services. That may be changing soon though, as they’re rumored to be testing ads on their basic plan. Netflix’s basic plan is currently $7 per month, and it doesn’t include any of the features that are available on their other plans. This includes things like ad-free viewing and the ability to watch shows offline. It’s possible that this plan could be replaced by ads eventually, as it would make more sense from a business standpoint. Ads on Netflix would likely be targeted towards people who are already subscribers to the service. This would allow them to continue using Netflix without having to worry about ads interrupting their viewing experience. It’s also possible that ads could be added to specific genres or seasons of shows, in order to encourage people to buy those episodes or seasons later on. It’s still unclear if ads will actually appear on Netflix’s basic plan, or if this is just a rumor at this point. However, it’s definitely something that fans of the service should keep an eye out for in the future. ..

The “Basic with Ads” plan was announced in October 2022. It’s priced at only $6.99 per month, which is $3 less than the previously cheapest “Basic” plan. Thankfully, we don’t have to guess how many ads you’ll have to sit through. Here are the details:

Netflix says there will be an “average of 4 to 5 minutes of ads per hour. ” The ads are 15 or 30 seconds long. Ads can appear “before and during shows and films. ”

Beyond the ads, the plan comes with a few other caveats. Some movies and TV shows won’t be available with this plan due to licensing restrictions. The Basic with Ads plan also does not allow for downloading content to watch offline.

Four to five minutes of ads is certainly much less than cable TV. If you’re a Netflix user that doesn’t watch a lot of stuff, it may be worth sitting through those ads to save some money. Despite a lot of competition, Netflix still has one of the largest libraries of quality content among streaming services.
